Strategic Research and Education Workshop on Additive Manufacturing of Functionally Graded Materials (17–19 June 2026)
The Chair of Ceramic Materials took part in the Strategic Research and Education Workshop on Additive Manufacturing of Functionally Graded Materials, which brought together representatives from the University of Bayreuth (Chair of Metallic Materials and Chair of Sustainable Production Engineering), NMB GmbH, as well as UNSW Sydney, Deakin University, and Swinburne University of Technology.
The workshop provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange on the additive manufacturing of a wide range of materials. Through presentations, laboratory tours, and in-depth technical discussions, participants shared current research findings and explored future developments in the field. The open and collaborative atmosphere, combined with personal interactions among researchers, generated numerous new ideas and promising opportunities for future cooperation.
The programme was further enriched by visits to regional companies, including KSB, as well as joint activities in Bayreuth, which fostered networking and strengthened connections between the participating institutions.
We sincerely thank all participants for the inspiring exchange and look forward to future opportunities to continue and expand this valuable workshop format.
