Energy-optimized godet with ceramic components for processing high-performance yarns (CeraGo HiT)
Project description:
Godets are key components in filament yarn production. They are heatable rotating cylinders that move the filaments through the textile machines. The aim of the project is the development of a new generation of godets, which are characterized by a longer service life, better reliability, thermal stability, and energy efficiency, in order to ensure the demanding production of new types of high-performance technical yarns, such as aramid yarns. Based on this objective, the research focus of the Chair of Ceramic Materials is particularly on the development of novel coating systems via precursor technology, as this offers promising approaches to solving the problems mentioned. Up to now, the coating of the godet shells at the project partner, Rauschert, has been carried out by means of thermal spray processes (APS or HVOF) using commercial standard ceramic powders. However, the choices are very limited, so that many coatings for special applications cannot be realized optimally. Therefore, novel ceramic spray powder systems will be developed and characterized using precursor technology. This includes the production of multicomponent mixtures for a better adaptation of the spray powders to the requirement profile, a simpler and more flexible production as well as conditioning of the spray powders compared to the commercial spray powders and the proof of suitability for thermal spraying. In the following step, these new powder systems will be used for the development of customized ceramic coatings with thermal spraying.
